Pamela E. Becker
The merger of what I consider traditional methods of working with fabric with various painting techniques continues to fascinate me. The challenge is using these disparate elements to create a piece in which all the elements work together forming something which is greater than any of its parts.
To accomplish the goal I work with fabric layers, paint, piecing, applique, machine and hand sewing. The reference is to images of the landscape. In essence these pieces are a record of things I have seen, thoughts and memories. The shapes vary to reflect the subject matter.
