It was only when I gave up working in ceramics that basketry entered my life.  I missed building three dimensional forms.  After years of experimentation with closed coil basketry I could once again build forms talking about both the space they occupy and my interest in the world around me.  The forms are classic permitting color and pattern to speak.

In the baskets thoughts and experiences are reduced to  shapes and colors and then combined to produce the final image. As the piece grows an interplay occurs when pattern and color react and interact with each other making form and pattern inseparable. Pattern is not only on the surface. It is the surface, an integral part of the form.
